Making Connections
The aim of this course is to make a book that will be filled with all kinds of ideas and techniques. You will learn how to make several simple types of books which will be bound together at the end of the course to create a unique sketchbook that you will have filled with your own work. It is for anyone at any stage of their creative life.
This is our foundation course, an introduction to the way that I teach.
It is equivalent to a twelve week in person course of six fortnightly sessions each lasting 2 1/2 hours.
You can do it whenever you like and at your own pace. There is no time limit.
You can revisit and redo any of the sessions or the whole course at any time.

The course consists of six sessions, with 56 lessons and 2.5 hours of videos in which you will learn how to make several different types of book, a pamphlet, a leporello and a foldout map book. Then at the end of the course we will bind all the smaller books together to make a book that contains your own art and ideas. Through the sessions we will look at ways to fill the book with lots of artwork, through easy exercises and prompts, demonstrations of simple and effective techniques and introductions to the work of other artists for inspiration, to enable you to create a record of your journey.
I want to you to play, make mistakes, learn from them, experiment, get frustrated, walk away, come back, get inspired, try something else, get excited, create beautiful pages, feel a sense of achievement. There will be some things you might not feel connected to but there will others that just might spark an idea, it's just about having a go, trying out new things and seeing where it takes you.

75% of each course fee is set aside to make more of our in person courses available online. 25% goes towards administration.
